The Son Tarot is a deck designed specifically for gay men. It is by no means a traditional tarot. The cards themselves become a meditation on how the tarot archetypes work through the lives of men experiencing same sex attraction. Female figures such as the High Priestess and the Empress are replaced by male equivalents. There are no women in this deck. This isn't because women play no part in the lives of the various gay male communities. It's more because the author is creating a unique space for gay men to explore their own maleness. There have been several wonderful decks with a feminist or lesbian slant such as the Motherpeace and Daughters of the Moon Tarots. The Son Tarot is a male equivalent to such decks.
